In transport and logistics, time and financial constraints are a well-known challenge. Thus, all processes have to be swift, just in time, very competitive and hence very well-orchestrated. To the extent that transport takes place over a country or internationally, public mobile networks have a role to play and have to be planned to provide a seamless experience to the end user.
Wherever local processes are involved such as in a warehouse, on a yard or at a transfer and storage facility, local connectivity networks can play an important role; in transport and logistic hubs, private connectivity networks guarantee the level of performance required. We offer a reliable connectivity infrastructure for logistics through our IoT solutions and private wireless networks to fulfil transportation and logistics needs.
5G Logistics project, through the Bristol Port, Gravity and St. Andrews Road locations, has the aim of showing the potential of highly accurate and real time location and condition tracking of containers and individual items in a freeport freezone scenario, replace manually intensive processes with 5G enabled autonomous systems, improve road traffic management and improve air quality and bring SMEs, universities and public bodies together to make strides towards the digital infrastructure of the future through the 5G private network capabilities.
We have implemented the critical communications network and we manage the connectivity project on Line 9 of the Barcelona metro, a complex project designed for a large line: more than 47 km of tunnels, 50 stations, 2 train sheds, a workshop area… Find out the technology that supports these connections and allows us to always have connectivity underground
The main objective of the PORTWIN project is to turn the Port of Valencia into the first logistics-port environment that assists the docking of vessels in real time with technologies such as 5G, Radar, Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence. This combination of state-of-the-art technologies significantly improves the efficiency and safety of ship operations and berthing manoeuvres. In addition, it directly helps to improve the entire logistics chain, reduce the carbon footprint and use raw materials more efficiently. It also defines a framework to develop the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) in general and logistics and port facilities in particular. The PORTWIN project is led by Fivecomm with the participation of Cellnex, Fundación Valenciaport, Universitat Politècnica de València, A4Radar and the Valencia Port Authority, and is co-funded by the Agència Valenciana de la Innovació (INNCAD/2021/14).
