In an era where billions of objects can be integrated within an information network new solutions are required to allow interaction

A real smart service is a service managed in an efficient way. Being ‘smart’ indicates the building or premises dispose of wireless –and wired– infrastructures and the associated devices and sensors that allow the building to ‘think’ and act all by itself, optimising its performance and characteristics for the usage it is intended for. These infrastructures are Internet of Things (IoT) based; a network where an internet is used to connect countless devices and objects or ‘things’.

IoT is expected to rapidly increase to enhance our daily world with ‘smart’ and autonomous environments. Cellnex operates IoT networks, deployed either at a local or national level, in order to offer smart services to its clients.

Small Cell Streetworks Project, Dublin

Cellnex participates in innovative programme to densify Dublin networks by repurposing street fixtures. 5G development has generated new opportunities for interconnection that can leverage the benefits of this technology. In large cities, moreover, densification has sometimes led to digital traffic jams that require new infrastructure. Cellnex Ireland, in collaboration with Bigbelly, a world leader in smart waste and recycling solutions for public spaces, has repurposed litter bins and equipped them for connectivity.
