MACICO– Multi-Agency Cooperation In Cross-border Operations (2011- 2014)
Latest Innovations
MACICO is a CELTIC-Plus European project for the interoperability of Security Agencies and Forces.
Its main short term objective of the project is to provide solutions for improving radio communications systems, tools and equipment in cross-border operations (surveillance, pursuits, etc.) and during operations taking place in other member state territories (large-scale civil protection operations or complex emergency operations requiring the support of Public Security Forces from other member states). Cross-border cooperation is also based on interoperability solutions for the Tetra-Tetrapol, Tetra-Tetra and Tetrapol-Tetrapol networks.
The MACICO project is innovative insofar as not only does it contemplate technological interoperability, but also the procedure for accepting users from other security networks while maintaining the security mechanisms intrinsic to these closed user group networks. The MACICO project also paves the way for developing robust solutions for interaction between the low-capacity communications networks habitually used by Public Security Bodies and highcapacity networks such as LTE (Long Term Evolution, better known as 4G).
Cellnex Telecom (until the 7th of april Abertis Telecom/Tradia) is the coordinator of the Spanish consortium, in which ALTECH and GENAKER are also members.
