Cellnex strengthens its Corporate Affairs division with the incorporation of Leonor Altamira (People & Culture) and the reconfiguration of Communications and Public Affairs as separate functions.
- Leonor Altamira assumed the role of Director of People & Culture in June, bringing a fresh perspective to a function that is critical to the Group’s transformation and growth.
- Communications and Public Affairs are now established as separate functions, both reporting directly to Xavier Pujol, Secretary General and Secretary to the Board, and Director of Corporate Affairs.
- Ignacio Jiménez-Soler, who has served as Global Director of Public Affairs and Corporate Communications to date, will step down from his role in the coming weeks to pursue a new professional opportunity.
Madrid, 23 September 2026.- Cellnex is taking another step forward in implementing the organizational structure approved by the Board of Directors in February 2026, which created the Corporate Affairs division under the leadership of Xavier Pujol, General Secretary and Secretary to the Board, and Director of Corporate Affairs. The division integrates the functions of People, Communications, Public Affairs, Regulation, Legal, Corporate Governance, and Compliance, with the aim of strengthening coordination among increasingly interconnected areas and supporting the Group’s priorities of growth, value creation, and operational excellence.
The first of these steps have already taken shape in the People & Culture division, where Leonor Altamira assumed the role of Global Director of the division last June. Her background and leadership skills will help bring a fresh perspective to talent management and development, as well as to the Group’s organizational evolution, reinforcing the role of People as a strategic function in Cellnex’s transformation and organic growth.
Prior to joining Cellnex, Leonor Altamira has had a distinguished professional career in human resources, both in Spain and internationally, leading initiatives related to talent management, organizational development, and corporate culture within global organizations across various sectors.
At the same time, the company is dividing the Communications and Public Affairs into two distinct areas, both reporting directly to Xavier Pujol. The decision reflects the different nature of these two disciplines and the desire to give each greater focus and advocacy capacity, in a context where telecommunications infrastructure plays a central role in the European digital competitiveness agenda.
Ilaria Pratesi, who has until now been part of Public Affairs, will take over as Director of the area, which will now operate as an autonomous function within the organization. The evolution of the regulatory framework, the development of European industrial and digital policies, and the growing role of infrastructure in the continent’s connectivity make it advisable to strengthen the coordination with Public Affairs and place it at the same organizational level as Legal, Regulation and European Affairs, ensuring a unified and consistent institutional position across all markets in which Cellnex operates.
Communications is also being established as a separate division, with a reconfigured scope to focus on the Group’s corporate communications and its brand: media relations, executive communications, corporate events, reputation management, and brand positioning.
This reorganization coincides with the decision by Ignacio Jiménez-Soler, Global Director of Communications and Public Affairs, to voluntarily leave the company to embark on a new professional chapter.
“In this context, I would like to express our appreciation to Ignacio Jiménez-Soler for his commitment, professionalism, and contribution to the development of the Communications and Public Affairs function during his time at Cellnex. His work has helped strengthen the Group’s institutional profile and reputation, and we wish him the best in the new professional chapter he is now embarking on,” said Xavier Pujol, Secretary General and Secretary of the Board and Director of Corporate Affairs at Cellnex.
The company has begun the selection process to find a new head of the Communications & Brand division, with the goal of addressing the needs of an organization with an increasingly international footprint and continuing to strengthen the Group’s corporate positioning.
In line with this evolution, Corporate Affairs also serves as a common coordination framework for the functions that have the greatest impact on the Group’s institutional, regulatory, and reputational standing, with the goal of ensuring a coherent, consistent external position aligned with Cellnex’s strategic priorities in all markets where it operates.
“The Corporate Affairs division was created with the goal of bringing together key capabilities for Cellnex and fostering a more coordinated approach in increasingly interconnected areas. Having Leonor lead People and establishing Communications and Public Affairs as separate units are natural steps in consolidating this model and will enable us to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the coming years with greater capacity,” affirmed Xavier Pujol, Secretary General and Secretary of the Board and Head of Corporate Affairs at Cellnex.
