The participation in this project is to compensate the loss of biodiversity due to the presence of birds at its facilities as a consequence of Cellnex’s activity. The actions focus on restoring 300 hectares of degraded natural pastures, their biodiversity and quality; signing agreements with landowners to promote sustainable practices; promoting crops with greater added value on at least 100 hectares; fixing power lines that are dangerous for agrosteppe birds; and strengthening alliances between farmers to improve hábitats

Some Cellnex facilities have been transformed into bird habitats. This is the case with peregrine falcons, which use the highest towers to nest.
To preserve this protected species, Cellnex cooperates in the construction of nesting boxes for birds on its towers.

To protect the habitat of storks, as well as improving work safety and cutting operating costs, Cellnex has designed an artificial basket-nest solution that significantly reduces and stabilises the weight of nests on the structure and lessens the impact of nests on the operation of antennas.

The Marker Wadden project aims to create an archipelago in the middle of Markermeer, a 700 km2 lake in the centre of the country, to transform it into a unique nature reserve where new flora and fauna can develop on the ground and under water.
Cellnex has provided a wireless connection infrastructure for the connectivity project, which will allow data to be collected from sensors (IoT) and other intelligent systems.
This connectivity will make it easier for researchers to discover, monitor and preserve this new natural ecosystem.

Cellnex has several sites in the Coillte forests, owned by an Irish state-run forestry group which aims to preserve biodiversity.
In line with this goal, the company has created a mobile app that allows users and operators to use the best route to access a site, find out if it is in an area considered sensitive for bird species, report any access problems and contact forestry personnel if there are any emergencies.
At the same time, Cellnex is committed to replanting a tree in the Coillte forests for every tree that needs to be removed to install a tower.

At Cellnex we recognize the importance of Natural Capital and how it contributes to the overall health of the company and society, which is why we guarantee its inclusion in decision-making processes and the adoption of measures to manage and improve ecosystems and their biodiversity.
Based on the results obtained in the Natural Capital project, in which the impacts and dependencies of the organization with nature were identified, an analysis of the risks and opportunities related to nature has been carried out under the framework of the Taskforce on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), in addition, the prioritization of the organization’s assets is developed based on whether they are located in areas of importance for biodiversity.
