Change in the CEO Position at Cellnex Poland

After almost 5 years of managing the Polish branch of Cellnex, Santiago Argelich Hesse resigns from his position. The function of the Chairman of the Management Board in Cellnex entities in Poland will be taken by Nuno Carvalhosa on June 1.

On June 1, Santiago Argelich Hesse will step down as Chairman of the Management Board in Cellnex entities in Poland. He will remain with the company until the end of June and support his successor during this transitional period. At the beginning of July he will start a new chapter in his career.

Santiago Argelich Hesse has been managing Cellnex Poland since company’s entry into the Polish market in 2020. He led the company during the initial stage of the acquisition of telecommunications infrastructure and teams from P4 (operator of the Play network) and Polkomtel Infrastruktura (operator of the Plus network). He participated in Cellnex Telecom’s first process of acquiring active infrastructure (antennas and transmitters) repurchased from Polkomtel and was responsible for the company’s transition from the start-up phase, involving the integration of the acquired companies with the central structures, to the phase of effective and sustainable development.

Responsible leadership of Santiago was key in the transition process for all Cellnex Poland companies’ employees, building trust among the company’s key customers in the management team and stabilizing the company’s operations on the Polish market.

I am proud of all the people who contributed to building Cellnex Poland as it is now and I am genuinely thankful to the Polish Team for their engagement in starting this unique project on the Polish telecommunications market. I am sure that with the support of Nuno Carvalhosa, they will continue to put the best efforts in securing resilient telecommunication infrastructure for everyone in Poland and that many extremely valuable projects, like granting the connectivity in white spots, are yet to come. – said Santiago Argelich.

Nuno Carvalhosa, currently, the CEO of the Western Europe Cluster (the Netherlands and Portugal) and of Cellnex Netherlands, will be taking the roles of CEO of the Central and Western Europe Cluster (Poland, the Netherlands and Portugal) and CEO of Poland.

Nuno has held several international positions in Telecom, Infrastructure, Automotive and Consulting. In several CEO and C-level positions, he has overseen a wide range of Business, Operations and digital transformation areas, aiming to improve revenue, customer experience and profitability. Nuno has acquired strong communication and leadership skills while leading and developing diverse teams, from highly strategic and analytical to highly operational backgrounds, and interacting with an extensive range of stakeholders, namely customers, business partners, shareholders, government and regulatory officials, MPs and media. He has lived and worked in The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Brazil and France.

In relation to Nuno’s new role in Poland, he will be focused on steering and supporting the Polish team – in developing its strong organic growth path, in further maturing the broad and integrated industrial positioning Cellnex has in Poland  with the ownership, operation and development of both passive infrastructures and active equipment, and in improving the company’s efficiency and profitability.

“I am very enthusiastic about my new roles at Cellnex. Poland the Netherlands and Portugal are quite different. Not only as countries among themselves but also in terms of Cellnex’s positioning in the respective markets.  Poland is, in many ways,  a unique market for Cellnex. and  I have been impressed with how much all our teams in Poland have contributed for making Cellnex such a systemic and relevant player in the broad Polish telecommunications and infrastructure market space. I am certain we will keep on honoring the legacy we have been creating in Poland and make further relevant contributions to the development of Poland and of our clients in the country.“
