Cellnex Telecom organises the Third Conference on the interoperability of Hybrid DTT

In its role as certification body for Hybrid DTT

Cellnex Telecom organises the Third Conference on the interoperability of Hybrid DTT where manufacturers and broadcasters test their latest developments for interactive television
  • The Third Conference on the interoperability of Hybrid DTT was held at the Cellnex Telecom offices in Tres Cantos on 17 and 18 November with the leading manufacturers and broadcasters in attendance
  • Panasonic, Sony, TP-Vision (Philips), LG, Samsung, TCL Thomson, Vestel and Sharp all displayed their devices at the event
  • It was attended by Radio Televisión Española, Antena3, Euskal Irrati Telebista and TV de Catalunya along with Cellnex Telecom
  • Hybrid DTT is an interactivity standard that uses the Internet to deliver interactive TV services such as the “RTVE Red Button” to TV viewers

Tres Cantos, 18 November 2015. Cellnex Telecom has organised its third “Conference on the interoperability of Hybrid DTT” at its laboratory located in the town of Tres Cantos.

The conference was organised to allow manufacturers to test their new models of receivers along with the apps that are being developed by broadcasters, for whom this event provides an opportunity to test their apps on the latest models of television sets. This time it was possible, in addition to the features that form part of the Hybrid DTV specification, to test some of the improvements incorporated into the new version of HbbTV (HbbTV 2.0) concerning the distribution of content in 4K (Ultra HD).

The “Interoperability Conference” which Cellnex Telecom has been organising since 2013, is highly valued by the organisations taking part because it represents a further step towards developing interactivity with greater assurance of interoperability between devices and applications.

The TV manufacturers taking part in the event were Panasonic, Sony, TP-Vision (Philips), LG, Samsung, TCL Thomson, Vestel, and Sharp as well as by the following broadcasters: Radio Televisión Española, Antena3, Euskal Irrati Telebista, TV de Catalunya, along with Cellnex Telecom as the organiser of the event.

The official TDT Hybrid website (www.tdthibrida.es) shows the various services that are available and which models are compatible with the Hybrid DTT interactivity standard.

Millions of TVs use hybrid services every month

Hybrid DTT is based mainly on the HbbTV standard, the first version of which was published in June 2010. However, the use of Hybrid TV has grown substantially since the launch of the “RTVE Red Button” interactive service in late 2013 and has increased tenfold during the past year.

Cellnex Telecom is a member of the HbbTV association and is part of the steering committee of that association.
