No indoor coverage? No problem

In today’s connected world there’s an expectation that mobile coverage will simply be there. When it’s not, it can be a frustrating, productivity-impacting issue for building users, and can damage the reputations of owners.

Thick-walls, steel structures and the use of metallised-glass in building design can have a major impact on mobile signals – reducing their strength or blocking them completely. A dedicated solution is often the only way to bring consistent 4G and 5G public mobile signals into buildings with insufficient coverage.

Cellnex UK is the indoor coverage expert, offering in-building solutions for every type of building. From large sports stadia to airports, hospitals, hotels and commercial offices. By combining technology and expertise, we deliver the 5-bar connectivity you need everywhere inside.

Quotes
We are pleased to have worked with Cellnex Telecom for this project. This is part of a long-term plan for us to improve connectivity around the Etihad Campus. Cellnex has a track record in the installation, management and maintenance of mobile network communications. This project will allow all those that visit our stadium to benefit from reliable 4G, as well as the prospect of even faster 5G signal when it is available on their devices. We know how important connectivity is to our fans and we are constantly looking for new ways for them to capture and share their experiences at the Etihad Stadium.

Cellnex UK’s Indoor Connectivity solutions provide cellular connectivity in areas where conventional wireless coverage does not reach. We take the signal from the mobile network operators (MNOs) and distribute these throughout the building or campus via a network of small antennas. By working together with the site and MNO partners, every Cellnex UK indoor solution is tailored to the precise needs of the location using a wide range of technologies and frequencies including 4G and 5G. And every solution is designed in accordance with the JOTS guidelines (Joint Operators Technical Specifications), the well-established industry standard for indoor mobile coverage deployment in the UK.

A Cellnex Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is the best way to bring consistent 4G and 5G public cellular signals into high footfall venues that have insufficient coverage. It delivers indoor connectivity by placing antennas close to where the user needs them most. Multi-operator coverage is supported through base station equipment housed on site, and is ideal for the busiest buildings. The optimum solution for coverage in buildings with lower populations such as offices, hotels and retail outlets is now available from Cellnex UK.

A more centralised approach, it removes the MNOs’ base stations from the building entirely. Instead, the MNOs connect back to their core network through Cellnex’s datacentre. The mobile traffic is then carried via a fibre connection to the building, where the signals are distributed via a series of radio points. This architecture reduces the on-site equipment footprint, power consumption and cooling requirement, all of which in turn lowers costs and speeds up delivery.

Cellnex provides a fully managed service and manages the complete life cycle of the solution, including design, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance. Our deep-rooted relationships with the MNOs mean we can have the right conversations on our customer’s behalf. We’re also best placed to get all of the MNOs on-board and on-site.

Integrate a Cellnex UK Indoor Connectivity solution from the very beginning or as a high priority in a venue refurbishment. Workers, visitors, patrons, guests, delegates, or passengers can then make calls, view and respond to emails and messages, and browse the internet anywhere – including basements.

A Cellnex UK Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is essential to help maintain a brand advantage by providing reliable connectivity and the highest quality of service in spaces where existing capacity and coverage is limited.

With extensive experience working with site owners and landlords across all types of telecommunication infrastructure, Cellnex UK is well placed to understand and address their indoor connectivity challenges. So that our MNO partners don’t have to, we look to help site owners find the right solution to match their needs now and in the future. Rest assured that every solution will comply with JOTS (Joint Operators Technical Specification) industry standard.

Cellnex UK offers a range of commercial models – some requiring no capital investment. We also offer a complete end-to-end solution from design and installation, set-up, operation and site maintenance (preventative and reactive), system monitoring and quality control.

Cellnex UK can help MNOs close the coverage and capacity gaps in 60,000-seater stadiums, international airport hubs, subway transit systems, healthcare facilities, hotels and resorts, and shopping and commercial centres.
