SABA have over 43 car parks nationwide and have been partnered with Cellnex bringing full mobile coverage to their clients since 2018. They have the greatest concentration of car parks in the city of Barcelona and all of them without coverage. Many car parks face similar issues since they are usually built underground and require a tailored solution to bring connectivity to everyone in any of their locations. The digitalisation of car parks allows users to enjoy a vast array of benefits, be it innovative apps, payment methods or even the use of smart parking solutions, carsharing and electric vehicles.
Cellnex uses a multioperator system (Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange and MasMovil) in one single deployment granting coverage for all operators while being the single point of contact for the corporate customer. Users will enjoy connectivity everywhere while the administrators maintain competitiveness by increasing revenues.
Challenges
Parking lot locations are infamous for the inability to get good public mobile coverage. The infrastructure is commonly underground with thick walls hindering network performance. Users have a growing demand for coverage as everything is digitalising including payments, security & safety alarms, parking space distribution and Smart parking.
Solutions
The solution deployed is a repeater connected to DAS (Distributed Antenna System) broadcasting the signal of all mobile operators to provide 3G mobile coverage, scalable to 4G and 5G in the future including the design, deployment and 8×7 maintenance of the infrastructure.
