AI MARS (Artificial Intelligence system for Monitoring, Alert and Response for Security in events) is a multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary R&D Consortium consisting of six top-level technology companies, led by RETEVISION and supported by four Reference Research Organisations in Spain, which work together effectively.
The AI MARS project was set up to perform research in various technologies, techniques, tools, methodologies and knowledge to develop technological solutions to support surveillance and prevention of attacks and other incidents (disturbances, riots, etc …) in high foot-fall sites (airports, fairs, demonstrations, sporting events, parties, shopping centres or similar environments); along with other elements of interest such as Critical Infrastructures, borders, etc…
Since this project focuses on Public Security and the Fight against Terrorism and Organised Crime, it is receiving the firm support of the Information Department of the Civil Guard, which was involved in setting out the requirements of future technological solutions as well as energising an appropriate consortium of companies for its Research and Development. They were also involved in designing the businesses project in the field of private security (such as Indra, Auditel and Abertis), due to the relevance of the project for shopping centre surveillance (the letter from Rodamco is also attached) and other private establishments with high security requirements. Letters of interest from the four companies mentioned, plus the Civil Guard, are attached to the project.
The AI MARS project facilitates the adoption of technological solutions to provide useful real-time information to Public and Private Security Forces and to the managers of large public spaces (shopping centres, sports facilities, etc.) to prevent attacks, riots, disturbances and other incidents in large concentrations of people and other elements with high security requirements.
The social challenge driving this project is to improve personal security by reducing attacks, riots, crowds, etc …, especially in large foot-fall areas, but is also applicable to border control or critical infrastructure protection.
The project budget is € 5,260,389 over 48 months, with a clear and ambitious incentive effect for the participating companies.
The Project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation through the Center for Industrial Technological Development, with reference number IDI-20181108.
