ENGINES (Enabling Next-Generation Networks for Broadcast Services) is a project of the European Union Eureka Cluster Programme that seeks to validate the new DVB T2 broadcasting standard (Digital Video Broadcasting-Second-Generation Terrestrial) and emerging standard for the broadcasting of TV signals to NGH (Next Generation Handheld mobile devices) using cognitive radio techniques to optimise the spectrum. Cellnex Telecom is the coordinator for the Spanish consortium, which comprises Retevision, Hispasat, Integrasys, Mier, iTEAM, University of the Basque Country, La Salle and AICIA, and of the pilot test work package.
